I am a wife, mother, and a professional. I have a very British, dry, sense of humour, and that’s what generally keeps me going. I try to stay away from writing about parenting, but occasionally my children slip in there, especially when they’ve made me laugh. I occasionally slip into poetry.
I love (not necessarily in this order): writing, food, films, books, running, and the outdoors. An ex Londoner, I am now settled on the edge of the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire, with my two boys, one long suffering girl-in-the-middle, and my workaholic cardiologist husband.

Ha! Reading your profile I can pretty much say, ‘me too’ to everything on there – except I’ve already reached the top of the hill and am trying to work out how to get down the other side without taking a ‘You’ve Been Framed’-style pratfall. Oh, and I’m not married to a cardiologist. Which, when you get to this age, starts to look like very good forward planning on your part … ;D Welcome to blogging and to your next chapter – it’s all good fun!
Pratfalls are better than a slow decline into beige polyester, elasticated waistbands and Ecco shoes though, no?
Lol at the forward planning comment. Just concentrate on the ‘workaholic’ part. No golf clubs in our hallway, put it that way 😉
Hmmm. Though I had my summer wardrobe all worked out for a minute there, but after reading this …
Yep sounds attractive doesn’t it. I’m still working out at what point I have to pack away my jeans and get some ‘slacks’. In your 50s you think?
Nooooooo! Never give up the jeans! You may as well order your coffin … :
Just buy a bigger size … after all … comfort first. Anyhoo, you guys are way too young to think about anything like that.
Haha I hope I don’t have to give them up or buy a bigger size 🙂
Love the new header!

Hi There!
Would you be willing to participate in something we are doing for Susie Lindau on Friday morning? I am contacting as many of her followers as possible. My thought is that we all post on our own blogs on Friday with the same title, “Susie Strong”. The content would say something simple like, We are thinking of you. I haven’t known Susie for long but this blogging world is such a family. I thought it would be nice for her to see this message from as many of us as possible. Her husband is going to be updating us after her surgery. He can tell her or she can see it once she is up to it. Are you in? Thanks, Maria aka brickhousechick
I would definitely but I’m looking after my children in someone else’s house during the holidays – I can certainly try!
Hello, thanks for the follow! You sound rather similar to me – working mother, a little bit past 40, British with a dry sense of humour that keeps you going, misses London, in fact, I’m wondering if you ARE me…oh no wait, you like running, I don’t, but apart from that! I shall follow you too…
Thanks! That has made me admit though that I’m not working any more, which is a very recent thing after 20 years. I’m now officially ‘finding myself’ ……or something 😉
Oh well good luck with that – try looking in the least obvious place (see what a good impression of a wise woman I do!).
I’m not actually sure I’m lost.
And hang on a minute, but I’ve just been looking round your blog and I’m sure I noticed you were very good at inspirational quotes….
Ha! Yes indeed…well, good at rubbish meaningless ones anyway!
Hiii. Nice to meet you 🙂
Welcome. I’m not here much at the moment, but will be back 🙂
OKAY 🙂 Catch you then.. 🙂
